270 Outdoors is the studio of Mark Cooke — feather artist, woodworker, and home of the original State Frame. Custom turkey fan frames, wing panels, and heirloom feather art, built by hand in central Kentucky — one feather at a time.
Feather art is detail work — cleaning, curing, and hand-setting hundreds of feathers until the pattern reads the way it did in the field. The frames are furniture-grade, joined from reclaimed hardwoods at the same bench. Nothing leaves the shop that wouldn't hang in our own home.

The Craft
Every commission starts with the feathers themselves — cleaned, cured, and preserved so their color and sheen hold for decades. Then comes the setting: hundreds of feathers laid by hand, each one overlapped the way it grew, until the pattern reads like the bird in full strut.
The woodwork gets the same patience. Reclaimed barnwood, black walnut, ambrosia maple — cut, joined, and finished in the same shop. No kits. No shortcuts. No two frames alike.
The Artist
Mark Cooke is a retired Nashville recording artist, a Navy veteran, and a lifelong outdoorsman. Feather art found him the way most good things do — through time in the woods and the people you meet there.
He didn't invent feathered art. He was trained by the man who did — Jeff Fredrick, a good friend and the craft's originator. From that foundation Mark built his own legacy: the State Frame, the Native American series, and the stretch-wing panel, designs now copied often and matched rarely.
